Any potential side effects from a drug under study are explained to you during your medical visit. However, it is important to mention that most side effects are short-lived and the volunteer is responsible for reporting any new side effects.
Tests are conducted according to strict procedures and supervised by qualified and experienced doctors, nurses and technicians. At any time of day or night, you will be supervised by our staff who will answer all your questions and attend to all your needs.
No. The compensation amount is not determined based on potential risks, but on the inconveniences associated with a study, such as time spent at our premises, frequency of visits, restrictions imposed, frequent nighttime blood sampling, etc.
The amount we advertise represents the compensation paid if the study is completed by the participant. If a participant decides to leave the study before completion, the compensation amount paid will be proportionate to the time invested.
In most cases, the bulk of the amount is paid by check directly to the participant upon completion of the study. However, distribution of the compensation amount may vary for studies lasting several months. All this information is provided to you during your visit at our facilities.
The vast majority of our studies do involve confinement periods, where volunteers must stay and sleep at our facilities. However, there may be occasions where confinement is not required.
Volunteers may participate in several studies, but not at the same time. You must respect a waiting period between studies for safety reasons (usually between 30 and 56 days).
All stays must be completed at our Quebec clinic located in the Technological Park. We also have a site in Montreal for return visits or physical examinations. We also offer a shuttle service between Montreal and Quebec City for confinement at our Quebec City facility. Depending on the study, we reserve the right to restrict certain participations.
To minimize inconveniences, participants who live more than 1 h 30 away from our facilities cannot participate in our clinical studies.
You could be eligible, depending on several factors, such as the type of cancer and number of years without recurrence. Each case is assessed by our doctors.
No. It is very important that this type of research be conducted in a controlled environment. Therefore, if protocol requires, it will be necessary for you to remain at our facility for the duration of the study, although stays rarely exceed 36 hours. During stays exceeding 72 hours, outings are allowed under the supervision of our staff.
You’ll be advised of all requirements before you give your consent for participation in a study. That being said, participants may withdraw from a study at any time and leave our facilities. In this case, a physician will evaluate the risks of leaving at that time. For safety reasons, we recommend that participants respect the doctor’s opinion.
Volunteers sleep in a dormitory or in rooms with bunk beds for up to 8 people. During mixed studies, when study activities permit, we make sure women and men sleep in separate dormitories.
Bring your belongings, clothes, books, magazines, laptop, etc. Do not bring any products containing medicinal ingredients.
